Mary Beth Hampe, MD

Dr. Hampe grew up near Tampa, Florida, and attended University of Florida in Gainesville for both undergraduate and medical school. In medical school, she immediately fell in love with primary care and headed to Family Medicine residency at the University of North Carolina. She stayed for an additional year to pursue a fellowship in dermatologic and procedural skills. As a primary care physician throughout residency, she found herself making clinical decisions based on the mysterious preferences of a patient’s insurance plan and knew this is not how she wanted to practice. She quickly learned that conventional medicine will always value profits over patient’s best interests.

Dr. Hampe is happily married to her wife, Maria, who is also a Family Physician. They have one cat – perhaps another on the way! They live in Durham and love exploring the city with friends and family.
